Nice. One less exclusive function of CM now available more freely.

I hope this is not a stupid question but.... (Famous last words!)
What are the benefits of this? I have read a few threads about this and have conflicting reports.

Also, what are the recommended values? multiples of 8? 24mb, 32mb, 40mb, 800mb??

I am running MCR R9 with Richard Trips V5f kernel.....any suggestions?

Thanks

The benefits are that applications might run quicker, and the OS too. Also it might save some battery life, but probably not enough to be visible during day-to-day use. Downsides are that overall you will have less memory left (not that it should matter since >512MB is more than enough for a phone), and sometimes it may cause instability.

24MB is the default on most devices. The best thing is to keep raising it bit-by-bit and find a sweet spot for your device. I think that most people have good results on 32MB.
Samsung Galaxy i7500 (CM7) -> HTC Desire (CM7) -> Samsung Galaxy S (CM9) -> Samsung Galaxy S3 (CM10.1) -> Sony Xperia ZL (stock/rooted)
Asus Transformer TF101 (CM9) -> Galaxy Tab 7.7 WiFi (stock/rooted) -> Galaxy Tab 7.7 3G (PA) + Toshiba AT201 (stock)
Font Changer - change your default system font (now works on MIUI too)
Clipboard Contents - extend your clipboard's functionality
VM Heap Tool - change the size of the heap for your device

Just installed the app in my Galaxy S because I was getting an error in Aldiko when opening a .pdf converted to .epub: "Database storage space is nearly full, delete some Contacts, Calendar, Messages" Since I have plenty of internal and SD free space I thought it could be the heap size.

But its set at 48 by default. Is that OK? Can I put 64 or will be overkill?

48 is pretty high already, I wouldn't recommend going to 64 (I think the app won't event let you go that high -- can't remember now). Never heard of a problem like that before I'm afraid...

Version 2.0 has been released, with a major overhaul to the user interface and improved robustness. Since most of the code has been rewritten, force closes are likely to happen. Just please use the "Report" button if you'll see one, and re-install if it will keep force closing.

Also, it is now possible to easily translate it so I might open a Github or something similar for translations. Or just let me know if you're interested. Thank you.
