The new heap value is only reported by the system after a reboot. Just setting the value will not change it. Reboot your device and see what it says.
Samsung Galaxy i7500 (CM7) -> HTC Desire (CM7) -> Samsung Galaxy S (CM9) -> Samsung Galaxy S3 (CM10.1) -> Sony Xperia ZL (stock/rooted)
Asus Transformer TF101 (CM9) -> Galaxy Tab 7.7 WiFi (stock/rooted) -> Galaxy Tab 7.7 3G (PA) + Toshiba AT201 (stock)
Font Changer - change your default system font (now works on MIUI too)
Clipboard Contents - extend your clipboard's functionality
VM Heap Tool - change the size of the heap for your device

Sorry, I'm afraid I don't know what the issue is. Never seen it before, and don't really know how it could be happening. My only guess is a dodgy ROM...

DONATE TO ME
Alas I'm getting the same issue as the poster above, changed value - rebooted, didn't apply the setting. (defaults to 32MB whilst the default says it's 64MB)

Exclamation will it work

Will it work in ICS based ROM?.. If Dalvik hep property is set to 128m can I assume that it worked?

Silly question, because I know there's inherent danger is messing around with settings like this when you don't know what you're doing... but I don't really know what I'm doing, so I thought I'd better ask.

I've increased my heap size from 22Mb to 32Mb, and the phone is running perfectly... no more homescreen redraws and everything's running a little smoother, but, when I used really heavy apps like the XDA Developers App or games like Draw Something, I'm still getting redraw from the home screen, and my Holo Locker is being cleared from memory.

Would there be any negative side effects of me pushing the VM heap size a little further than I already have?

I'm afraid I haven't tried it myself on ICS. This app has really become obsolete on HC and newer, since the heap sizes have now been increased to more than enough.

You have to understand that increasing the heap size will leave less memory for other applications, therefore if you are using a heavy application it will push out all the other ones from memory. Increase even further might not help, but you can always try and see what happens. The best setting really depends on how many and what apps you use, and how much memory your device has.
