WriteRight Universal Screen Protectors Review
I purchased a package of 5 WriteRight Universal Screen Protectors when I picked up my Epic 4g on 10/1. I just got around to installing one yesterday.
Installation:
The screen protectors are about 3" x 4.125" and can be cut to fit any size screen that is below that. They come with a grid printed on the backing material that makes it easy to cut to size. It is a medium tact adhesive screen protector that reduces glare and helps to prevent scratches.
Attempt 1:
I cut the first one to size, attempted to line it up, and began to apply it with the included applicator/air bubble remover card. 3 giant air bubbles were staring me in the face. Attempts to peel back and reapply caused the film to crease. I threw away this one and tried again.
Attempt 2:
This time I cut to size and used my drivers license to apply constant and even pressure across the entire width of the screen. No air bubbles, but 1 piece of dust was present. Again I slowly peeled it back and attempted to remove the dust. This caused the adhesive to fog up and could not get it completely clear. I threw that away and tried again.
Attempt 3:
Success! After drinking a beer to calm my nerves I was able to get this one to apply perfectly. No air bubbles, no dust, no nothin.
Look and feel:
Perfectly clear and less glare than the stock screen. No orange peel, very nice glide, extremely impressed.
Overall I would give these a 2.5 out of 5. I am not the most nimble with my fingers, but apparently you need to have the patience of a saint and the hands of a surgeon to get them to work perfectly. I'll be luck if I get to use 2 out of the 5 included.
Pros:
Cheap!
Less glare
Nice feel
Cons:
Difficult to apply
Forget about adjusting them if you misalign.
