The title says it all. After much time messing around, I've come up with the absolutely needed system apps for our Droid X phones to function correctly.

First off, I am running Rubix 0.5FocusedPATCHED with BBC Dark Status Bar and Clear Lockscreen on the official 2.2 OTA.

Here is the list of system apps which you "NEED":

THIS IS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE FROM TITANIUM BACKUP. I RECOMMEND EVERYONE USE TITANIUM BACKUP.

As always, make sure you do a nandroid backup first. If anything goes wrong, you can either place the systemxxxxxx.apk into the /system/app folder, set the permissions and then reboot the phone. If it is a critical app you removed where you can't even turn on the phone or even open up root explorer and copy and paste the needed xxxxxx.apk into the /system/app folder, just do an "advanced restore" of "only" the /system from clockworkmod.

I then proceed to disable all NON-CRITICAL 3RD-PARTY applications from starting automatically with AUTOSTARTS! I have about 240MB of system RAM free!!!

Remember, this is only if you don't mind not having BLUR and its widgets and stuff. Also, it gets rid of some other pointless Android sytem apps.

My phone flies now, and my battery life is insane!!!

PS. A little extra tidbit of info for you.

In ADW Launcher:

2. Under Screen Preferences, set "Desktop Overshoot" to "0"
3. Under System Preferences, check "Wallpaper Hack"
4. Under System Preferences, make sure "Auto" is selected for "Scrolling cache"

ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That .apk is in the file called rubiXFocused0.5PATCHED-search.zip which I installed after the main rubix rom. If u don't have rubix 0.5 installed, I wouldn't worry about it.

I think it is odd that this Fission AOSP ROM leaves Motorola Services installed when it isn't needed. I don't know if the final does but the RC1 did. Odd when it isn't even needed!

Here is a request. I am thankful for the list of things I have to have- but is it possible to also make the list of things that can be removed? Or replaced by an alternative?

In other words...

Code:
Removable...

blurhome.apk - must be replaced by another launcher in advance
or something along those lines. To me it just seems easier to know what it is I can remove- since I am going to be removing things.

anyways- this will still work great. thanks.
