my friends iphone4 can hardly last a day, my SGS with speedmod kernel(not promoting it here, just giving an example coz i havent tried S.O.K) was on for 20hours with only 30% battery drained.

iPhone 4 is completely different configuration.

So Galaxy S got more powerfull GPU/CPU... even more than 20%.... More performance=more power.

If you will test like "IDLE" phone. Glaxy S can win.
If you will stress CPU-> iP4 win.
If you stress GPU -> iP4 Win

But... if you make phone call probably is differant situation, and guess what?... Galaxy S here win by 20% (more talk time).

WiFi -> Galaxy S got better and iP4 win...

With this kernel you can make miricle.
You can underclock/undervoltage your CPU, and set safe 800MHz (if you set max clock to less than 800MHz there is BUG that will freen phone)....
Now Galaxy S can Win

TNX to laststufo you can lower your screen Hz value to 30Hz. Your screen will be darker... but there there is V-Sync on. So in games max frames per second will go lower from 58 to 30. That mean if game got good performance, GPU will go more often to IDLE.

And your phone can beat iPhone 4.

Main problem is Screen that is bigger-> Much, and it took like 50-96% of all power. You can't bypass it without impact of user impression

DONATE TO ME
I have shamelessly pulled the source for this kernel and merged it with source thebirdman's I9000 kernel for the Fascinate kernel and my own attempt to get a working Fascinate kernel using I9000 sources in an attempt to get working source code for Froyo on the Samsung Fascinate.

Just letting you know, updated source including these changes has not been posted yet but will be posted soon (within the next few days).

Thank you to everyone for their hard work, patches from your kernel alone do not produce a fully functional kernel for the fascinate as of yet, but it helped me to see problems in the original source code that were never looked at from a different angle, issues that were in the kernel Samsung released in for the I9000 that loyal hackers like ourselves had to hunt and fix. Credit will be included for the work used once full source is pushed and the git updated to reflect it.

I hope I have not angered any I9000 devs by including this code, as with opensource, having everyone's work open like this helps us to solve issues and develop new solutions to existing problems for the good of all users and developers alike. My Eclair Blazed kernel is opensource and on git for anyone who would like to use the work, I only ask for proper credit. The Fascinate kernel based on the I9000 source is also on git, although updates are slow as our progress is in baby steps over time, with issues being solved slowly due to us not having a fully working source code available at this time.

[KERNEL] Fascinate Froyo Source [SRC ON GIT] (Built from Galaxy S I9000 Source)

Ciao laststufo,

I have the latest official italian ROM (RSJS2) product code ITV:
PDA : I9000RSJS2
PHONE : I9000XXJPY
CSC : I9000ITVJS1
Build Info : 2011.01

Do you think I can safely install your kernel on it? Did you test it?
Do I have to backup something before, just in case something goes wrong?

Thanks!

Ciao!

what tweaks should i enable/disable to get the MAXIMUM battery life possible from this kernel? (not caring about performance)
and which lagfix type as well?

currently using lagfix:
ext2 on data/dbdata/cache
ext4 on system

Well, in that case, you should do the following;

1 - Switch all your FS to ext2.
2 - Grab SetCPU and set your governor to "Conservative", and set CPU limit to 800mHz. Avoid using Profiles, as they seem unstable... on my SGS they do, at least.
3 - Grab Xan's Voltage Control and set your CPU limit to 800mHz too, and disable all states above 800mHz, but enable all states below it.
4 - Try find the LOWEST UnderVolt values for each CPU state without making your phone crash, or experience dead-sleep (when screen switches off to standby, but never again turns back on).
5 - Disable all options in the "Tweaks" section of SOK recovery menu.

There... that should do it.

That ROM may possibly be using the FuguTweak - where 2 system files are replaced with Gingerbread ones. This apparently makes the UI smoother, but has only 1 side-effect: no boot animation.
