[Q] Mytouch 3G froyo root issue

I have the original Mytouch 3G. I have wanted to root my phone because I have been stuck on android 1.6 for so long. Waited and finally got the official 2.2 update from t-mobile. I'm not liking it. No flash, no live wallpaper and its really sluggish. I'm wondering if there is a way to root it yet and is there a custom rom for the mytouch that has the froyo features that make froyo great? I appreciate any and all help.

(remove the space between "http://" and "theunlockr.com")

As for flashing ROMs, you have several options. Go here for a list of all custom Froyo ROMs.

I prefer Cyanogenmod, but everyone has their own preferences.

Cant use that method. When I try the first step of downgrading it says "Main Version is older! Update Fail!" So I'm not sure what to do now..

From my understanding MyTouch 3G cannot do flash? Had to do with the hardware or something, however I don't know if that's true, I've never seen flash my Mytouch Fender.

Also most Roms dont come with Live Wallpapers, go to the market and download them

Well Still not sure how to root my phone(if possible) since I cant downgrade using the method that was provided in the first response. Anyone else have suggestions or ideas?

I have successfully rooted my MyTouch 3G with the froyo update on it. I used SuperOneClick v1.5.1 . I found it at forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682

It worked for me as well. Now I just need to find a good guide for custom roms.

I used superoneclick v1.9.5 (newer), and it worked. The LATEST version did NOT. I downloaded v1.9.5 from androiddownloadz.com
(I can't yet include links; xda rule.)
