Was wonder had anyone tried this?

Will it work with a "normal" headphone and allows u to use headphone to listen to a call while using the phone mic to talk to?

Is this the same $18 adapter that other ppl say it works?

Actually I think this is an adapter from the 2.5mm socket on the iPhone 2G to a 3.5mm socket.

But the newer iPhones (3G/GS, 4) already have a 3.5mm socket, as does the Galaxy S and most other smartphones released in the past year or so.
