Unhappy Slow load times for apps / games

Hi there,

Quick question for all you fellow HD7 owners.
Have you noticed that the phone can be painfully slow loading apps / games?

General phone use is quick, but when I fire up a game or facebook / twitter I often have to wait upwards of 20 seconds before I can actually get going. Certain games, like The Harvest, seem to take forever.

I can only conclude that HTC have used the slowest SD Cards that money could buy in an effort to shave their margins.

Not that impressed.

WMPower Users have a story about that, where someone compared a HTC Trophy to the Samsung Omnia 7 (the Samsung has a SSD, not MicroSD), and the HTC loaded games 2x slower.

I'm really scared about this, I was going to buy a HD7 but knowing this, it sounds pretty bad :/

Coming from a 3gs I'm a little dissapointed by the loading speeds. I guess that's the difference between nand and SD storage.

Oh well!

This is a bit concerning but I had a Desire with Apps2SD on, with a 16GB Class 2 Micro SD Card and apps loaded up fine. I'm guessing after a few updates the speed will be faster.

I havent had that feeling, both Twitter and facebook are loading in less then 10 seconds! But sometimes I have to reboot, because it just bounce back when you try to open a hub!

The XNA programming platform has been known for slow load times, add in a SD Card and apparently it gets slower.

TonWes: Try opening a game, not an app. Twitter and Facebook are written using Silverlight most likely, not XNA.

Ok so its not an apples to apples test but bejeweled live takes 45 seconds to load to the main menu in my hd7. On a 3gs bejeweled 2 takes about 5 seconds to load. say what you will about optimisation but it would appear that HTC used some poor grade memory in this phone!

And 45 seconds to load a simple game like bejeweled! Wow!

The Trophy in that video doesn't have a removable sd card, either.. there's a large sandisk chip soldered to the motherboard.

Obviously the controller or the memory is inferior to what samsung is using in the Omnia 7.. which is a real shame.

This is making me re-think my decision to buy a HD7..

Theres is a video in youtube that compare trophy with omnia and the diferences are big
