Smile [KERNEL] coolbho3000's overclock module for the (European?) Desire Z release

Hi all,

I've recompiled coolbho3000's overclock module for the recently released Desire Z. It's available on

Overclock Module

All credit goes to coolbho3000, and all instructions are the same as for the G2

[unfortunately XDA won't let me post links so you need to cut and paste this and remove the dirty space]

I think it worked, but my SetCPU couldn't get root access so I couldn't change it. I'm going to try again to verify.

Confirmed, this works.

Overclocked to 1.4 Ghz right now on Bell Desire Z.

@stridger:

first, thanks for recompiling

second, have you been able to run it ?? is it working for you (Euro D-Z) ??

Guys does this mean both (Euro and Bell-NAM) share THE SAME KERNEL ??

This would be great news, opening the path for firmware swap, aka "debranding"

.

Yes. Running it right now.

looks like it, yes.

This would depend on other things, the kernel version does not say much about compatibility of ROMS, though it could be an indicator. The question is whether the signing keys are the same, what Radio and HBOOT version they run etc. But it would be easy for somebody to find out by simply flashing a European ROM.

Default A little more detail please

Sorry, I'm still a little new. I have temp root from Visionary. But can some one tell me the command line for
1.copying the file to the data/local folder
2.running "insmod /data/local/vision_oc.ko" as root

Any help would be appreciated.

my adb skills are low

Thanks

Edit.

Sorry let me rephrase my question. What i'm not understanding is the following.

1. Is temp root enough
2. If so, when they say run as root, do i need to enter rootshell or can i just run the file through adb if temp root is set on phone.

Thanks for any help you can provide.
