In light of this recent want for better battery life I have noticed that everyone is using collin_ph battery tweak (see below to download) or calibratin their battery.

What you need to know:

-Battery tweaks control your CPU
- They can underclock on low battery causing lag
- They can turn off GPS in the middle of using it thinking it is draining
- Most use CFS Tweak (can act like BFS) and if turned on can make some apps run faulty. Thanks to eklipze for some more info on this A bit about CFS || More on CFS tweaks and BFS
- Post ( download and info) for Collin_ph Eris port. HUGE thanks to Decad3nce for his work and info on this. Decad3nce's Collin_ph Battery Tweak Port Thread

-Battery tweaks have alot of options
- It is best you read up on battery tweaks BEFORE you use them
- Different settings will have different effects on different ROMs
- Suggested readings : DS36's : Tweak Thread ||| DS36's : Battery Life Thread
- Thaks to DS36 for these VERY Helpful tips and forums

-Calibration
- IF NOT DONE RIGHT WILL RUIN BATTERY LIFE. SEE: Hungry Man's Battery Calibration Thread
- Does not show results right away (may take 3-4+ full drains)
- Thanks to Hungry Man for ALL of his research on this!

More to come....!

Good job, this will help the people that need to learn this. Maybe then we'll see less of the "My battery draining too fast, this rom sucks!" posts

Thanks for taking the time bro.

good writeup for those that are confused about the pros/cons, thanks for contributing!!!

its worth noting that the usage of CFS alone isnt what causes the gps (or other app) troubles... specifically in the battery tweak, there is a 'CFS Tweak' that causes the CFS kernel to act like the bfs kernel (google: no_new_fair_sleepers for more info as thats what the batt-tweak cfs-tweak does)

this is what may cause the gps troubles

Thanks for this! I'm totally new to this stuff and just used the 1-click root app, installed KaosFroyo v38, and the Decafuct CFS v8 kernel. Recently my battery has been draining 10%+ per hour no matter what I do with it. I don't want to complain, so I will be reading as much as I can. Thanks again!

I appreciate the "IF NOT DONE RIGHT WILL RUIN BATTERY LIFE" =p it's absolutely true. Recalibrating can mess you up if you don't follow the steps.
