I have tested a fix made by Mammon88 that will prevent the camera button from waking the phone up when using any of the Froyo 2.2 ROMs and can confirm that it works. It has dramatically helped increase my battery life since I carry my phone in a horizontal leather "suitcase" LOL.. it's always being woke up from sleep.

I take no credit for this fix, merely sharing it, with permission of course

All thanks goes to Mammon88 for the fix.

Apply via recovery.

Chefs/devs may use this in their ROMs now as well, as long as credit is given where due.

Any of the Froyo builds will exhibit this bug AFAIK.

Have not had my phone exhibit this behavior since installing dk17.

Would it be too much to ask to prevent the sound buttons from waking the phone? or try and tell me how to do so?

I'm not sure if this fixes the problem. I'm flashing it right now. I just edited the volume buttons the same way the OP did for the camera button.
