Cool DIY Samsung Captivate Dock

I have a Samsung Captivate and was unable to find the dock sold in Canada at stores or online, so I decided to create a dock of my own.

All I used was a black sketching board (not bristol), black electrical tape and a few other items used to create the dock (scissors, ruler, pencil), also added two batteries for weight but anything else could work.

The dock in my opinion looks very good, I was aiming for a minimalistic look while making it sturdy as well. This dock is also very versatile, it can work in both landscape and portrait mode.

Overall time to make this was two hours *due to figuring out measurements and putting it precisely together*, but it was worth it. I saved myself several dollars which is always a plus.

If you are interested or have any questions about this, just ask!

I have uploaded a few pictures of process and final. (I wasn't able to upload each step by step process due to the picture limit of my account)
Cheers!

That's pretty awesome. I was thinking of doing something similar with fiber glass shortly. Lol

DONATE TO ME
Problem is.... and I'm NOT trying to be critical here, please understand that from the get go.... that ISN'T a dock, it is a stand! A dock also incorporates the charger so you "dock" the phone into the charging port so it automatically connects the cable. What you have, and it is very nice looking, no doubt about it, is a stand with a cable behind it, same as what I've done and most of us have done.

I've rigged a car charging DOCK up once, but the thing is SO fussy, if you are off by a fraction of a millimeter or don't push the phone all the way in with the strength of the Hulk it sometimes seems, then it won't charge the phone, and all those hours spent making something custom are wasted....

Looks good, again! Now make it charge the phone just by dropping it in!
