Advice for Newb --

Currently have myTouch 3G, just rec'd the TMo OTA update to Froyo. Runs sloooow now.

Have never rooted, but now really want to give it a shot. I just want a nice fast phone again. What is the latest greatest ROM for myTouch that won't slow things down too much? Thanks for any advice --

if u already rooted... cyanogenmod 6.1.0 rc1 or if u like to experiment try their latest nightly... rooted give u soo many freedom to ur phone :)

Ok, I have not rooted yet. This would be my first attempt.

Do I just go for the latest build of cyanogen? I just want a more responsive phone again. The Froyo OTA update has made things unbearably slow...

stick with cyanogenmod, you should be fine. all roms are base of cyanogenmod stables or experimental nightly.

im done with trying other roms that other dev build from cm. some arent up to date with cm.

im always trying out there latest nightly. i have no problem with speed, responsiveness, connection, battery life and internal space.

i have 82 apps installed and still have 213 mb free space
7 screen loaded with widgets... speed n reponse are quicker than tmo ota.
im always texting and surfing the net... i was able to get approximatelly 7 hrs - i dont know if thats an issue for u. if i dont do anything i can get about 1 day and a half.

be sure to read up and find out which main bourd you have 32a or 32b you cant interchange roms only usethe ones for your phone there are lots for both.
you should check out rom manager in the market it is awesome for installing and backing up roms youve a lot of research to do but its not really that hard just kinda scary at first but once you use rom manager its a breese.

Once you've got it rooted, install rom manager from android market.

Flash the clockwork mod recovery ( can do it in rom manager straight from your phone)

Then you can download cyanogenmod from the download rom category, select cm6.1 stable and check google add-on (gmail, market, talk) let it do it's thing and your done.

Then you can keep on top of it through rom manager.
