some sellers on ebay say that when ordering AT&T locked DVP, they will include unlock code, that will unlock the device for T mobile. When I asked them if this unlock code unlocks DVP for any GSM operator worldwide, they answered: NO.

Could anyone tell me if it's possible that unlock code unlocks device only for one operator, not for all GSM operator worldwide?

The AT&T and T-mobile versions of the DVP have different radios. Even if they could give you an unlock code you wouldn't have 3G service on the other carrier if you had the wrong phone. I've never heard of an unlock code only working for a single carrier either.

actually I'm not going to use this phone in USA and even don't need 3G.. I only need these bands: 900/1800 MHz.

Perhaps he was confused and thought you asked for the unlock code for a different carrier locked VP (the guy selling the unlock codes I mean). (ie the unlock code for a tmo locked one for example)

I'm assuming the ones that give actual codes (and not have you use their unlocking software) are simply pretending to be carriers/users and getting the official unlock codes. Each carrier has it's own database/section on the manufacturer's database.

If you only need 900/1800, are you only using EDGE/2G?

mostly I'm using Wi-Fi. sometimes have to use 2G, whole country isn't covered 3G network. as far as I know, in Georgia 3G is 2100MHz, so I will use it, if AT&T version DVP has 2100

If your 3g is 2100 then you're all set, both submodels cover 2100 anyway.

You may be better off with the AWS ones though (if you can get it equally as easy) as it also has 900 as 900/2100 are a common pair.
