Default Possible to use the DK17 Browser.apk with the "Official" Froyo DK28?

So far the Froyo update is going well. I Odin'ed it after a full wipe and cache wipe.

Only thing that is REALLY bothering me is the browser. The DK17 browser was awesome. Simple, and was super fast.

I'm learning to deal with the slow rotation and other little bugs, until some better Froyo roms come out.

In the mean time the browser not auto wrapping text properly and the checkerboards are driving me nuts.

Can someone post the factory pre-update browser so i can test? Am I wasting my time?

This browser on Froyo is weird. It doesn't "auto" wrap the text, but if you pinch to zoom in and then double tap on the screen the text instantly reflows to fit the screen. I kind of like this way better because there are times I dont want the text to reflow.

Also, they got rid of the dumb zoom buttons on this release which is AWESOME.

So basically, zoom in so that the text SHOULD be reflowing to fit the screen, and then double tap. It should reflow instantly. As for your other points, yea, the rotation lag is ridiculous and the checkerboarding is annoying.

Well ****, first off I'm still new to the Epic... just bought mine two weeks ago.
I was under the impression that DK17 was Android 2.1.1 - What the Epic came with from the Sprint store.

Well, it's not... It's 2.2.1

I downloaded and Odin'ed DK17-Extended.art3mis

I just want the COMPLETELY FACTORY 2.1.1 ROM that came from sprint. NO recovery, NO root, Nothing.

I'm going to pull the Browser from that. However after playing around with Froyo more and more... I just don't know if I like it. Seems ALOT slower. Even loaded with 50+ applications on the completely stock sprint ROM, everything was super smooth with the phone. I mean home screen scrolling, LWPs, etc. I've been using the Aquarium LWP with the 3D rendered fish... It's jittery on Froyo with NO applications installed. Unacceptable to me. I'm going back to what Sprint had on the phone to begin with.

Thats because the 2.1 roms were official. The 2.2 Froyo roms are beta or release candidates. Samsung better polish and smooth some things out with Froyo before they release it officially.

Well I'm running the Quantrom ROM right now... everything is a little snappier than the "official" froyo release.

I tried pushing a 2.1 browser.apk to 2.2 and it's a no go. FC immediately.

I guess I'll just use Dolphin for a while.

Does Dolphin support flash with 2.2?
