Why is the Archos 28 internet tablet/mp3 player so hard to find?

I have been looking to get some Archos 28 action but it looks like that I will have to order from Best Buy as a special deal. I wish that Archos could take over Sony

Have you checked your local Sears stores? Most of their stores should have received at least a few. And they are on sale for $89.99 as of this morning.

they are a small company, in france, with a chinese manufacturer.
despite the demand, they are still small potatoes compared to other companies, and therefore don't get the priority in manufacturing.

huge demand, small overseas market at start. most people in the US for example knew/know nothing about gen5,6,7 etc - or even anything about Archos at all.

i recommend watching the archos official website, as i had a preorder for 2 months at JR.com, saw it go live on the archos.com site and ordered, had it in 3 days. just ahve to be vigilant ...

I tried to get one from a local store but I got tired and simply ordered an Archos 32 directly from the Archos website.
