Wifi tether has always worked just fine for me tethering 4G. I get 3-4mbps most of the time with peaks around 6mbps.

I use the Wireless Tether app in the market (root only) with 4g all the time, works great.

EasyTether on the market works well. Cheaper as well IIRC.

Default I used wired tether

I use wired tether on a rooted phone and couldn't be happier. Great 4G speeds and charges the phone at the same time. Remember, 4G is a huge battery hog!

My phone is rooted but couldn't get wired tether to work. Is there a particular version I need to use? The wireless tether works great, but not all my computers have wifi.

If the phone indicates you're connected to 4G and tether works at all, you're tethered via 4G. What "3G speeds" are you getting?
