Default Can the color read ebooks that aren't from b&n?

Does the nook color read ebooks that are downloaded from other sites?

DONATE TO ME
yes.. once it's rooted you can install the kindle app, and many other ebook reading apps.. so no they don't have to be from b&n
HTC Touch -> HTC Hero (Sprint) -> Nexus One (T-Mobile) -> HTC G2 (T-Mobile) - > HTC Sensation 4G (T-Mobile)

Long Live Android!

... Not true!

The Nook is open source so you can download any Epub book and read it on the nook. These can be from google books, nook app, moobi, etc. Also in the off chance thats not enough you can edit kindle books to read on the nook... Either or you got tons of options beyond just B&N store books

BE WARNED THOUGH...

you loose features loading a non B&N book, these include...
  • Cant be put on the home screen.
  • Is a hassle to get cover art (if possible, I couldnt get it to sync, but I also didnt try hard)
  • You cant share. with other people
  • You cant use the twitter/facebook fuctions
  • All other features should work if its an Epub

Awesome! Im going back to college and would like a tablet for my text books instead of carrying around heavy books. This sounds perfect. Thanks.

The Nook doesn't seem to handle large PDF files well if that is what your schoolbooks are. I conveted most of mine to epub using Calibre last semester to put them on my ipod touch, but it is something to be aware of.

How well does converting PDFs with pictures or a lot of symbols (science texts) to epub work? I would imagine that a lot of science textbooks would convert pretty poorly to epub because the pictures would get messed up?
Also, the non-OCR'd scans -- do they just convert as full page images in epub?

Most of the time you don't even have to root, the default B&N reader uses Adobe DRM epub/pdf and most unsecured formats.... But imo 7" screens sucks for textbooks, most of them just aren't laid out for it.
