Unlock Rogers Dell Streak?

New to android and stuff and thought this forum would be a good place to start. I just got my streak that is the rogers version. any advice for a new android owner? It is running 2.1 right now but i want it to run 2.2.

anyways, anyone know how to unlock this so I can use it with fido or any other carrier?

it might be able to run on fido since its subsidiary of rogers , i know you can look into gettin a rebel sim , but i have heard places can unlock it now not sure tho

ya i tried that but it locks me out =(. Tried mobileincanada.com for the unlock. they told me they were able to unlock it but after i paid they said they couldnt find a code for the IMEI so i got a refund.

would rebel sim work on 2.2? im also having trouble on how to start with the upgrade to 2.2

I'm having the exact same problem. This is so frustrating. Someone please help us!

sounds good! might actually sell the streak since i only got it cause i thought it could be unlocked.

yes you can use a 2.2 rom with rebel sim , u just got to download steves no baseband rom , go the steves thread on info on how to upgrade to that rom if you decide to buy a rebel sim , either way steve or someone in that thread can help you guys out , don't sell it , phone is outta this world

sweet man thanks alot for the advice. I think youve convinced me to keep it =). Im really experience with iphone unlocks but im new to all these android thingy. I read DJ Steve's thread but im a bit confused. Do i need anything installed on the PC or mac in order to upgrade?

also would there be a chance the device would BRICK?

I bought might and returned right away once I found out that unlocked version (come pre-loaded with froyo 2.2) is sold online @Dell.com. Luckily, my cousin in the states helped me bought one and I should be getting it end of this month.

Ok Rogers is now releasing the codes for the Streak. It's the only sure way I know of unlocking with code.
