Thumbs up TO ALL DEVELOPERS - please read and thank you

First of all I would like to thank you all for all the hard work you do in providing all of us with some incredible ROMs, Kernels, and other tools. You are truly stars and we thank you.

However, yesterday I downloaded the following 2 files:
stock_jk6v2.zip
Eugene_2E_JK2_Froyo.zip

I had downloaded them before on 12/8 for the stock_jk6v2.zip and 11/8 for Eugene's file. Since the latest download from Eugene came up with a slightly different file size, I did a binary file compare between the two. Eugene's 2 files (same name) were different. I then tried the other one and even though that one had the same file size, the binary file compare found differences between the 2 files as well. I also double checked the file compare utility (just to make sure it wasn't the app the problem) on two other files that I knew they were identical and the file compare came back as identical. So clearly something was different on the two files above from their previous versions with the same name from a few days to a few weeks ago.

Since I tried them and both work I would assume that some changes were made but no revision number changed. Since a lot of us would like to know when we are running the latest and greatest, would it be too much to ask that if a change happens, however small, that a small revision number is added to the file name (for example Eugene_2E_JK2_Froyo_1.zip or stock_jk6v2_1.zip or something like that)??? That way we mortals would have some idea if we are working off the latest file.

Many thanks.

I think Devs should also email each and one of us individually just to make sure we're up to date as well.

No! Not email, snail mail. Every visitor should receive a note in the mail on when the Devs have updated their roms. LOL (just kidding)

People really don't get obvious sarcasm these days....

Anyway, @OP: devs DO properly name each release. No idea about the situation you claim to exist, but it's either a very very RARE occurance, or a figment of your imagination. The thing is, you're saying you want the "latest and greatest" yet you're complaining about a JK2 based rom (obviously not latest or greatest to anyone following these forums).

The point is, put the burden on yourself by checking post dates, user reviews, etc. to find the latest and greatest roms.

Of course I got it. It seems you misplaced my statement.

That was not the point. These were named the same, yet there were differences. Both were downloaded from the same source, just different days. Nobody knows what the differences were but the developer. And many who downloaded the file earlier did not know there was an updated file with the same name later.

So all I asked was a simple minor revision number on the file. The developer does not even have to say what if anything has changed. But it will be a big help to people to know that when they say they are running X.X rom and they are seeing an issue that others are not seeing, that at least we will know that they were running from the same file as everyone else.

These are based on different releases of froyo - JK6 & JK2. You can probably search through the forums and find the original thread with these releases. Also, I believe this is the developers site: eb-productions.proboards.c o m
Next time, please post this in the Q&A section, thats where it belongs.

Leave it to the assholes in our forum to turn a simple question into a f-ng 50 post flame fest. Why dont you guys check out the townhall going on right now, read what the mods have to say about this kind of crap.

It is very good as we appreciate the work of our developers in XDA.

Although the idea to thank them in public is good, I'm closing this thread for a few reasons:

1 - has generated many flames. (I've cleaned them up).
2 - If we want to thank you now have the button Thank you.
3 - For each development is the best comment in your own topic.

But if only to thank not need to write anything, just use the Thank You Button

I hope you understand and work with this forum, avoiding unnecessary thread.
