I believe that it can be rooted with z4root or universal one click root. Don't have the phone yet, but planning to get one from a local carrier here

I might get this phone, if I root it are there ROMs that I can put on it?

Well now we have a complete dedicated IDEOS thread here so ROMs and mods will follow in due course of time. I don't thing there are any custom roms available for this handset until now, but I am hopeful that things might change soon.

I had to use Universal ANDroot. Worked first try. Now let's get some flashing on!

try and use rom manager premium to search for rom rom manager premium can be found in applanet link http://www.applanet.net/Forum/downlo...p?do=file&id=3 or 4shared.com

Universal ANDroot worked fine for me too.
