I am unable to download files from my browser. Simple as that. I can not figure out why, I've tried about:debug to see if there was an option I was missing but no. Please help as I am all about downloading roms/apks/zips one the go. Any ideas?

No issues here, downloading .apk files from getjar.com just fine.
You might/want/try to install a file manager like ES File Explorer or Astro, and it might work.

Wow really? Well all you said was you can't d/l that's it.

Try going into Astro and enabling file downloads then.
ANYWAYS.. *I* have no issues, and didn't have to install Astro and enabling anything.

Not every download is working, I can download the same file using Delphine HD.

Astro did it. THANK YOU

Its because when you're not rooted the browser only downloads your basic files. that's my guess anyway.

Astro automatically installed from my titanium backup when I first rooted. Didn't work so I tried uninstalling and reinstalling.. Still nothing. I don't have astro on my N1 but have absolutely no problems downloading a link right from stock browser. Whenever I click on the link it appears to start the dl but says download unsuccessful.

Just having astro installed isn't enough... you have to go into its settings and enable file downloads.
I has Nexus 4.
