Does the googe play music app work with this rom? I'm having trouble find a g1 rom that it is compatible with.

Last time I looked ~2mo ago.. google play "worked" .. but was hardly what I'd call useable. way too slow particuarly if you are hoping for streaming from your account.
Dream Sapphire:
> Radio 2708+ (+15MB kernels)
> MT3G ota froyo rom dream sapphire port
> ezGingerbread (rom/source): Dream/Sapphire
> DS JTAG: Soft load of SPL (to unbrick/re-root) / JTAG WIKI

Acer A500:
> ezT20 kernel A500 and A100
> A500 Public Recovery (Clockwork Mod based recovery + source for the A500)
> Acer A500 ICS Rooted w/ Busybox
> Acer_A500 OTA 7.014.14 --HC 3.2.1-- Rooted w/ Busybox

Donations for beer/rent are always appreciated.

I ended up getting it to work on your froyo aosp ota build. It force closed in land scape but is working great in portrait. Get this. I have a transformer prime, the wifi/bt is so bad that you can't stream from wifi to bt at the same time. So i broke the g1 out of the closet to use it as a mp3 player with my bt headphones while cutting the grass. Basically, the latest and greatest can't get something done that the original does just fine. Freaking crazy. This tablet is a piece.

my apologies for the rant.

The HTC Dream may suffer from old age, but darn if that phone wasn't perfect. I got my Droid 4 when I switched to Verizon last week, and I started missing my Dream in less than 24 hours.

Dad wants me to sell it and give him the profits. I don't wanna. I love that phone.

EzTerry, I cannot thank you and Firerat enough for extending the G1's life with Magpie and ezGingerbread. You two brought Gingerbread to the original Android device (ezGingerbread) and made it usable (Magpie/app2sd-ext). I no longer use the HTC Dream, but you still have my gratitude. Thank you again.

There seems to be some confusion out there on permissions to use the rom/kernel in your own work.. That causes people to ask for permission from me.

1) kernel: the kernel is under the GPLv2 this license allows you to redistribute the kernel with some minor restrictions:

A: the source code must be provided, if you re-distribute a pre-built version of the kernel a link to my stand alone kernels and the kernel version used will suffice but otherwise source code must be provided.. most will accept a diff from a know kernel as long as the changes are small, but technically the full sources must be provided.

B: within xda you can't re-post my binary unmodified without giving full credit to me, or include it in a rom unmodified without full credit to me.. if you do modify the kernel providing credit is polite to the upstream developers, but as the patches in the kernel come from 100s of devs the best way to do this is to upload the code to a site such as github with the full git history. (Obviously if the changes from my source are very minor listing me as your starting point will help people know the product they are using). It is required that the source code be clearly indicated with your product.

2) the rest of android:

While some odd components are under the gpl and can follow the above, most of android is under the apache 2 from Google.. in my work I've ensured that all the code despite being modified retained the full permissions of the original Apache 2 licensing.

This means you can redistribute it without explicit permission as the gpl code is.

However apache 2 doesn't require the modified code be distributed with the binaries.. if you redistribute a modified version it is best to provide me credit (as the most accurate version of the public code) and ensure its indicated you are providing a modified version of said code.. please remember if you are posting the product on xda not providing the code/patch is a bit against xda's core philosophy of sharing developers info with other devs.

In short you are always free to use anything I release under the apache2 license w/ source or is protected by the gpl without my explicit permission (the license grants you this). However make sure credit is given where it is due..

(also it is generally recommended to read both licenses in question as there are some additional minor requirement you should attempt to cover in any modified work)
