It is a pity the Cloudmade maps do not work any more. Pity, because you could download the whole of Europe and place it on the external SD. I think I'll wait updating until this is fixed.

I was not able to find a decent changelog on the Navit site. Pity. And searching for addresses is indeed not so easy, but the biggest problem is that the default country is the locale setting of the phone. It would be a lot better if it remembered the last choice.

That said, Navdroyd is not perfect either. It looks more refined, but Navdroyd had a very confusing user interface too. It routes well however and the price is okay.

I'm missing gpsmid (also open source) that I used on my Sony-Ericsson c702. Also problems with maps (couldn't be too large) but good address search and a nice displayed track to check where you have been walking. Routing was ok too. There was a start made porting that to Android using J2MEpolish but it seems to have died down.

Now I'm still looking for a walkaround GPS program, like a handheld receiver that shows a track where I've been and some waypoints I've set. If possible with an offline Openstreetmap background. Haven't fount it yet. Navdroyd does not display a track, but worse is that when panning the map it switches off the GPS, and I have to select menu - my location - show my location again.

Many thanks karl999999
This program has a special specification , You can download and create every map by your own and it is not needed to wait for a company for a map release
I will try it and send my feed back
Thanks again

------
Edit :
------
I try this software
1- Map easily loaded (50 Mb )
2- No support for right to left language ( Persian )
3- I don't now where is the navigation and rout menu
4- Night and day recognition is OK
5- Exploring the map is easy and fast
6- Map details is off and I don't now where I can change this option
7- UI is poor

Finally
This program is so good but need some development.
Thanks again

Default start navigation with navit

ok, its a bit tricky to find out how to start navigating :)

method a)

touch with your finger on the map, at the point where u want to go
now you should jump to the menu screen
press "action" -> press on the round world icon -> "use as target"
now you should jump to map again, and navigation will start

method b)
touch anywhere on the map to enter menu screen
press "action" -> press "city" (icon on 2nd row on right side)
now the flag of your country should be on the left top side
-> if this is not correct -> press on the flag -> enter your country name -> and select the country name with finger

-> if your country is correct -> entery city name -> select city name with finger -> select "street" -> enter street name -> select streetname with finger -> press "use as target"

now you should jump to map again and navigation will start

streetnumbers are not very accurate, but thats openstreetmap, not navit's fault
