Default [Q] So, something strange...

A few days ago, I upgraded from my Droid Eris, running KaosFroyo v37, to the Droid X. In store, the clerk took the two (Droid Eris and new Droid X) phones into the back, for what I assumed was some sort of transfer of data. (I assume this because she asked if I used backup assistant right before she went back) She came back with the two phones, and the Droid X looked quite a bit like my Eris, running Launcherpro and everything. I was a bit bummed, though, as I wanted to start fresh with stock Droid X and deal with everything from there.

So I got home, wanting to do just that, and tried to go back to the stock launcher. Which, as I soon found out, was no longer on the phone. I tried a full wipe/factory reset and everything, and it would always turn back on to Launcher pro or something.

Am I mistaken, and it should be like this, or did the clerk pull some voodoo magic on me and somehow delete the stock launcher?

I don't think the droid x comes with launcher pro by default. I have the stock launcher on mine. I find it odd that yours has launcher pro in it

Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
If I've helped you out, feel free to hit that cool little thanks button down and to the right

Well I think it has Launcher Pro on it because I had it on my Eris, and the store clerk did some sort of transfer of data, or something along those lines, and I ended up not having a stock launcher.

Hm.. I have never heard of this process being done, but not to say it can't/isn't done! If you really want to get back, I would recommend making a nandroid backup, and then go ahead and try to sbf, perform a factory reset, and make sure to wipe /data and /cache.

This should get rid of all your installed programs and take you back to the default X state. Make sure to use the correct sbf for the version of android your phone is running, or you can wind up with a brick for a phone...

Hope this helps!

Screw that, I would go back and have her fix it. I also have never heard of the apps being xferred over, they typically go back to migrate (unload and re-load) your contacts and such. Other than that, I'd raise hell.. at this day in age you want to use any ammunition you have to fight for the service you pay for. In this case, she did NOT give you the Droid X "out of the box" the way she should have.

That said tho, LauncherPro is the shiznit... may be just as easy to keep it instead of paying for it.. or if in the case she somehow moved it over and you don't have to pay for another license form your Eris.. all the same. Good luck.

Google makes logs of a lot of things you think it wouldn't. I reverted my Eris back to complete stock and traded it in, and bought an X. When they activated my X it had SuperUser and Wireless Tether installed when they handed it to me.

The VZW clerk made a comment about, "oh, someone had naughty root type unauthorized software on here, good thing you can't do that with this phone".

I laughed and left with my new X, which was rooted 10 minutes after getting home.

That is strange. Unless she did some sort of nandroid restore that wouldn't happen. Anyways, just do a factory reset to get it back to stock so you can start out fresh. Your contacts should already be backed up with google. To double check, go into your gmail account from a computer and select contacts from the left hand column. You should see all of your contacts there.

Also, she never touched my Eris. And it had Launcher Pro on it, which was on my Eris.
