Exclamation RAM Memory amount

PocketNow is stating, that Dell Venue pro is showing only 256MB of RAM.

Can somebody confirm or decline this? As there should be 512MB (as far as specs go)

Unsure of the accuracy but it's something to look out for:

many people have confirmed that the program used on other devices to show 512 is only showing 256 on the dvp however it still could be a software issue were the os is not seeing the full amount or that program is not seeing the full amount
heres hoping that blog post is up soon

from the @DellCares Twitter:

"@300mhz We have folks looking into the RAM question. Hoping to hear something by tomorrow 12-30-10. Thx AB"

Don't know why it takes days to confirm or deny RAM amounts. I don't have my hopes up.

If true I doubt Dell spec'd the unit as 256, but who knows what China did after that. Could also be the firmware reporting incorrectly, or worse only allocating 256 of 512.

1. The software is not the blame, as it uses WP7 API calls (it would messed up with other device RAM as well)
2. This leads that WP7 cannot see and use the ram.

U r speculations? Different RAM slot? Not assembled correctly? Wrong RAM chip batch at factory (put 256 RAM instead of 512).

Anyway, hope its Wp7 issue, or Dell is so screwed

My 8GB phone firmware revision number is 2250.1500.7004.105, it has the crazy switching from 0G, 2G , to 3G causes the battery life to be drained in 3hours with WiFi off and Bluetooth off, the age of this phone is about 3 days.

It heats up at the lower half of the phone and it smells like burnt plastic.

There are hard crashes with the game called: The Harvest, and at the Marketplace: Apps

Ram Memory reads 225.02MB

The first drop call was, while on the phone with T-Mobile for activation and I lived in NYC a 4G area.

When I told that to the T-Mobile rep, she said: "Sorry to hear that" lol

Probably not a W7 issue like you said, but firmware is different than the OS. It is possible the firmware is to blame.

When I called Dell for the WiFi issues they confirmed that it is only supposed to have 255MB and not 512. She asked where I saw the specs for 512MB and I told her the MS website has it clear as day.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do just yet.

also every shop in the UK that has it listed has it at 512mb of ram, i doubt they pulled the figure out of their arse. i think dell either changed it to save money or have messed up but is trying to make out that it suppose to have 256mb.

Did anyone follow the sdcard thread? When the card was pulled, the amount if available RAM changed...something like 400mb or so. If this is true, might the issue be more of a ...how the os is reporting the ram?
Regards

@Alodar1
