I think you should update to the JPX Firmware and then search for the JPA WiFi driver in the Forum. Because the JPX is so good that you do not need a lagfix. Just root it with CF Root. Do not take the JPY because it has a bad GPS problem.
PS: You can do it without flashing the JPA driver but then your battery
will lose aproximately 10% of charge per hour.

I know that the JPX is an offical firmware but I thought it is only aviable in England over Kies? I haven't tried to update my Galaxy S over Kies because my friend did this and he bricked his one with that. I use Odin because it's more Stable.
If you root your phone than you have special functions for your phone. The CF Root flash too the 2e Recovery in which you can start the Clockworkmod. And trou this you can backup your whole file system. So if you ever will have a problem you can just flash back.
Like Time machine for the Mac.
Is that a reason for you to root? If no then you can live happy wihout it ;)

DONATE TO ME
Newly bought galaxy S eh?

Do your firmware update via Kies and stay away from Odin until you've read all the necessary stickies in this forum on how to update and what to back up.

Check the other questions/issues here in the Q&A about new sgs users getting in all sorts of trouble because they got too excited and flashed without reading and comprehending first.

Hey, thanks for all replies....
I am i total newbie on on galaxy s related stuff,

all i want to do is a lagfix.... i dont want to use roms or anything i like my phone how it is but i just want it a little faster...

I think my phone version is JG3? I want to update officially using kies...

once i kno more about this phone i might try some other ****..

but for now i just want to keep it simple.....

so from what i gathered is that if i update through kies i will get JPX which is the best official thing? then i dont need a lagfix?
