Question [Q] Long term harmful effect on our TD2s by having buggy android?

Yes Haret does NOT mend any files during launch of android. It is supposed not to do anything to our TD2 aka Topaz but i think it is worth a discussion.

I am sure a lot of TD2 users here tried android mounted by Haret, which I remember was one of the blast moments in TD2 development and I believe was featured on pocketnow etc websites. Great props for devs. I was frustrated with Win Mo and has been running android frequently.

However, development was slowed down greatly after initial version 16 or 17 running android 1.6 / 2.0.1 . since then, we are left with buggy android with glitches everywhere and phone occasionally overheating and freezing. We have finally gotten ourselves sound and partial hardware 3D which is nice however even after a year past, it is far from being used even purely for phone purpose.

Personally I have been a geek and been running Ubuntu and android frequently, almost 3h per day even during initial alpha stage where the phone was able to do almost nothing but browsing sd card.

Here is consequence I have met now:

1. So far Hard reset 2 or 3 times due to Haret somehow making system crashing my Touch flo 3d and unsigned programmes. Fixed after few patches aparrently

2. Great deal of hardware stress. Now my battery is 50 percent on full charge , My phone speaker is out of order now hardwarely, my 4gb SD card is corrupted and no longer usable

3. /unconfirmed if it is by android/ bad pixels on my screen (green dots)

4. Mental stress as an addition if TD2 is primary and 24 month contract is not over yet

Personally if I look at HD2 development, I am kind of really stunned considering it just boomed in few months and Today XDA portal shows that it is able to run on nand with full tutorial. This is summarised by only one statement

-Developers lack of interest / unwilling to devote time on XDAndroid project compared to HD2

I would like to hear from you if any of you is having long term buggy android symptoms as well. And how should devs with lack of resources concentrate development on so that we have daily functional android for us instead of just hearing wining? like camera is luxury etc... Nand build now for Topaz = nearly suicide since it will accelerate hardware stress and who wants phone that hangs during calls and lockscreen? 7hour battery life is a bonus

P/s Disclaimer: XDAndroid is free project in which devs have no duty / pays to make android work for us. They have right to ignore us if needed to have their own time and I acknowledge that. I tried many android build with latest stuff installed. I do hope there is a breakthough so that our old phones can be revived with nice android goodness. Sorry for my english if any.

Battery life has decreased considerably, IMO due to excessive wear on Android builds, although this was expected.

I think instablity on WM has to be somewhat related to not letting WM starting completely.
At first i as running HAret immediatelly after booting and now i'm waiting a couple of minutes to run HAret, letting WM load all the necessary %#"$!%$%!$.

First off, I personally have not had any problems with android running on my Pure. I feel if you are worried about "TESTING!!!!!" android on your device, then don't! The only downside i have seen is charging my battery more, so of course the battery life will decrease. It is a very small inconvienence considering i have a nearly stable build of Android so that i don't have to use Winmo.

well, I was tring to warn people who was hardcore like me. Personally I do not complain at all . Disclaimer is there to show that I dont blame devs or worried about testing. But i think warning sign on android portal page to show that possible hardware damage could be done due to stress would be good.

i agree to check if there're any issues to hardware. My 8G TF-card can't be readable last week after using xandroid suspend over night. Hope it was just a coincidence.

I really regret buying a TD2 (if you compare to HD2 or Android devices)! All this WinMo-stuff brought me to XDADevelopers, because I tried to change the way WinMo works. After a while I discovered Android running through HARET and I think it's worth the risk. I agree to that point that developers should disclaim that there're possibly damages on your hardware in the future, but I also think we all new what we're doing. :D
