Default Edify is it worth IT??

So is it just me or does this new edify thing seem more of a hassle than a benefit??? Everyone is having some sort of an issue one way or another. I am always willing to try the latest and greatest, but is this edify script thing really worth it?? Every other person is having an issue with something. Not to mention my zips, themes, and certain apps won't even work with this. What is the point of having edify scripts anyways?? The Ext4 vs RFS was a sweet transition for me. I love it, but this whole edify thing is not making any sense to me. Could some please tell me what it is and why it benfits us? What is the point of not being able to install all the stuff we have been used to over a scripts change??

Edify scripts don't mean much for the end user.

Amend scripts were what was originally used to build with. Edify has been around for a while, and google has shown their intention to move to Edify, but they kept amend support for a while to wean people off of Amend. It hasn't worked as well as planned and many devs are still using amend scripts because that was in whatever tutorial they started with. With Google's Gingerbread recovery, they finally removed amend support. Clockworkmod 3 is based on this gingerbread recovery. Clockwork 2.5.x is based on the Eclair recovery and supports both amend and edify. There currently isn't a good reason for many epic users to migrate to clockworkmod 3, especially when many people depend on amend based zips to get the functionality they want.

For the time being, using 2.5.1.0 and 2.5.1.2 is the best way to get everything to work. Let the devs and testers do their thing. It won't be long until pretty much everything is migrated to edify.

I caved in to my Edipus curiosity once and things have never been the same between my mother and I. Would not recommend.

I'm assuming you're making a joke playing on the word Edify which is close to Edipus. At least that's what I'm hoping you're doing and not just making a random confession online...unless your mom's hot, then it's okay.

Better searching: Use Google. type site:xda-developers.com before your search term (i.e., "site:xda-developers.com Purple Nurple" without the quotes). Thank you, DiGi760, for the suggestion!

Thank you so much for that info. Now that clears up a lot of things for me. I will just wait until all the Devs and testers finish doing what they need to and see where it goes from there.

With a development this big patience is needed for the devs to get themes and other mods released. honestly the development has only barely started with this phone wait til froyo source is dropped then if we still have a good amount of devs this should get ridiculous with mods in here. go look at the first droid forums the mods for that phone is overwhelming.
