Question If you use QDL to get 2.2 can the phone be brought back to 1.6?

My buddy wants me to get 2.2 on his new Streak. He bought a locked ATT one. I found that there's a tool called QDL that flashes EU software to the phone by bypassing some security stuff. I don't see it as an issue as the only difference between the EU and US is the carrier lock. My friend wants to know that, if for some reason the phone fubars, can we run some sort of recovery to bring the phone back to 1.6? Basically back to it's original state.

Also, once you run the tool does the phone accept the EU OTAs?

Used qdl on my friends at&t locked streak and it put US 2.2 on it build 305 then I manually flashed to build 309 then 318. It should still get the US ota updates as the build and baseband version show up just like my unlocked streak does.

Where do you get the 309 & 318 updates? How are they flashed? Stock or CWM recovery? Are they updates that need to be installed in order or full packages where I can just flash the latest?

You can find download links on xda or let me know and I can send them to you. not sure if they have to be installed in order or not.

I flashed them using the stock recovery.

Its funny, I still can not find an answer to the original question. Is it possible to get back to the original at&t 1.6 rom, say for warranty/return purposes?

It should be possible by following the guide at modaco.com. It takes you from 1.6 to 2.2 and has a process to go back.
If you can't find the links let me know and I will dig them up. I used that guide on my first streak. Got to froyo then back to donut when I had to send it back.

Did you restore to the at&t factory 1.6, or the unlocked?

I couldnt wait, so I just upgraded to the oficial 2.2 this morning. Wow!
