New Motorola 4G Powerhouses...decisions
So recently at CES (and on their website) Motorola announced two dual core 4g android 2.2 powerhouses. One, called the Droid Bionic on Verizon's LTE network. The second is the Motorola Atrix 4G on AT&T's upcoming HSPA+ and LTE Network.
The main differences for me is between AT&T's networks track record (I'm currently on AT&T and let's just say it makes road trips suck) and verizon's, but the advantage of the Atrix 4G is 1. when LTE isn't availible it will fall back to HSPA+, while on the Bionic it falls back to 3G. 2. it has an accesory that allows you to dock your phone into a netbook-like "shell" and runs what seems to be some sort of desktop enviroment. I personally need to see this all in action with some more demos to decide, but what do you all think?

The Atrix demo video blew me away. The desktop experience looks rather promising.

Atrix 4g
I'd recommend that everyone looks at a walkthrough of the Atrix + laptop/ desktop docks. Quite literally that has to be the future. It seems like the cloud concept, having your own computer everything across multiple platforms. For me, the reality is that although I can do most things Office on my HD2, a computer is better. Keyboard and screen. But I want to view my documents everywhere, and get fed up with transferring them and file sync. When i first got a pendrive it was a similar feeling, that there was the same familiar thing (files) everywhere. This is like that, just it can do it all, you can interact on the go, in a tv/ desktop/laptop environment. 'Revolutionary' Oses look good, and have more apps; phones have better specs: this is what i think that word means. Imagine if as a business/ in a hospital/ school everyone used a device like this that conformed to universal standards. Most stand-out product I can remember seeing. Anyone going to get one? (i won't, unfortunately...money)

my first android phone is the Captivate, and i told myself i wouldn't look for another phone until a higher res screen was available with android. Well...here it is!!
I am curious though...how is the development for Motorola phones compare to the huge support for HTC phones?? Recently, i have seen a lot of people talking about how Motorola locks down the bootloader, but is that really a problem for development? I looked very quickly at the DX development section and it didn't seem like a lot was going on.

AT&T's 3G network is barely available outside major cities, HSPA+ is built off the 3G network it's just an upgrade. Since the LTE footprint is likely to be even less than the 3G footprint, you will most likely be stuck on the edge network which is many time slower than VZW's 3G network. Given that VZW covers a much larger portion of the country, I will still be switching. When available, AT&T does have a very fast network, sadly it isn't available anywhere near as widely as VZW's despite what the death star would have you believe.

I'm on att and have the Captivate, the former powerhouse android phone they offered. I definitely want to get this Moto Atrix very bad.
For those that haven't seen the demo of the desktop version check it out:
http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/06/m...ock-hands-on/#
Basically it has some full screen apps and it's a full Firefox browser which means you can run any website the way it was meant to be run and full flash 10.1.
Then it has some citrix setup that allows business people to connecto a virtual computer or something and it looks like you are running windows off your phone. I'm sure this "citrix" software can be made to work with your home PC so you could run your home PC off this phone when it is docked.
This phone is nuts and i've been thinking for a long time this is the way phones need to go.
