Hi, so im new here, since i got my galaxy s just days ago (with 2.2 on it)
And i want to know which updates i need to get my phone work faster, which lagg fixes, how to update to 2.2.1, how to root etc..
any link to another thread or a tutorial for a beginner, would help

The best thing that I ever did to sgs is Flashing Darkys v8 rom.

I suggest u to do this as it is the best and easiest to do if u need help in flashing it just pm me I give u instructions to the best of my knowledge.

Just a comment on that . The majority of help i broke my phone posts on here are 99% darkys rom so as they say go figure .
Experienced user try it you know how to recover and that goes for any rom .
Dont know what you are doing then you need to read and learn .

will changing the product code to an UK one, make me let my phone update to 2.2.1 trough Kies?

If you change your product code it will update only if their is an update from that network .

First step would be to get the correct product code .
EG O2 uk has an update to 2,2
A change your product code and update to 2.2 but you have invalidated your warranty .

Can you not go to your network for the product upgrade that path one your phone remains under warranty .

Path two rootfix >> lag fix >product change > flashing phone .Your warranty no longer valid you pay for all repairs .

my phone had 2.2 on it out of the box, im asking for 2.2.1, for a lagg fix the phone has to be rooted right?
