The flashtool won't let me click on the root button. I've rooted my phone before on another computer using flashtool but the computer I'm using now won't let me. Am I missing something?

Connecting the phone to USB's in front panel is not the same that doing it in the rear ones. For me Flashtool doesn't complete the flash procedure using front USB's.

So, use the rear USB's to flash your phones with flashtool and see if there was some difference.

Hope this help someone.

This is a well known and documented issue. Every time you stick the phone to a different port windows adds registry entries with different id's, just like it does with every device. The flashtool usually assumes the first entry, though it usually goes through the bus/hub entries searching for the device. Your front and back ports may be different controllers.

The simple answer is to only use one/the same port all the time.

I always used the same front USB port in my PC, the same... and never worked to complete the flash procedure. I posted here that when I used a WinXP machine, the procedure was successful, but in that XP machine I used the back usb connectors, so, last time, I connected in my Win7 x64 PC the USB cable on back port, and the procedure was ok.

So, I can tell that I agree with you about the USB controller. I have a powerfull PC, and The front USB ports are 2.0 like the back ones. If the front USB are 1.1, then we could think that the old 1.1 controller is the faulty one.

At this point, I think that mentioning in the first post of this thread that it's advised to use the back USB ports to flash procedure will be a good idea.

Cheers mate, and thanks for make me things more clear.
