[Q] Recovering from root

Ok, after reading up on all the posts I can find on Rooting, ROMs, and Kernels I think I’m gonna finally take the plunge. But…I need to know what I have to do to restore my device back to where I am before I rooted. Especially 4G access, I live in a 4g area and enjoy the speed.

If I decide to unroot, what process do I need to follow to be able to restore back to the point before root?
Can the backups made be used to flash back to my starting point?
Or do I flash back to a stock ROM/Kernel and then have to restore the backup?
Will the back up restore also recover my RSA keys if they are lost? (seeing a lot of posts how to back these up, but none on how to restore them)

Basically if my phone is FUBAR I want to know I can recover my phone back to before root and how I do it.
