Question [Q] Changing Text Message Service Issues

Ok, this is my first Droid phone, so I'm still trying to figure it all out.

My default text message app is driving me crazy. It randomly decides to scroll up and down when it feels like it.

So, I've installed ChompSPS to use as my messaging app. No more random scrolling, so I'm happy.

The problem is, I can't figure out how to disable the default service notification.

I've been through settings -> sounds -> notifications but all I can find is a setting to change my ringtone for everything, and I can't find a general page for notifications.

So, how do I disable the default text message notifications?

i have some friends that used Handcent SMS on different phones and ran into the duplicate notification problem as well. i guess this post doesn't help much since i have no solution to offer, but just so you know, you're not the only one who's had trouble with this.

Go into the stock messaging app settings and turn off notifications there.
Empirical evidence can never establish mathematical existence - nor can the mathematician's demand for existence be dismissed by the physicist as useless rigor. Only a mathematical existence proof can ensure that the mathematical description of a physical phenomenon is meaningful.

The solution is often simple, isn't it?

Thanks.

Also, fyi: this is an android phone. Not a Droid phone. Droid is a line of phones in the same since that Galaxy S is a line of phones. Android is the operating system that runs all these phones.

And the other user is correct. Change setting in the OEM messaging app to keep from having duplicate notifications.
