Default CyanogenMOD 7 Nightlies FAQ (MT4G)

I have been reading the CyanogenMOD 7 Nightlies thread and thought I would go thru and make a list of the FAQ's that people ask.

Got the idea from Phateless and his Post #863

If anyone has any others to add, let me know and I will add them.

Thanks to the following (and many others) for all your help answering questions (If I've Missed Anyone, Sorry):

You need to use ADB or RootExplorer to edit it. I'd say RootExplorer is easier. Go to /system, mount rw, long press
the file build.prop, scroll down to ro.product.manufacturer and change it from HTC to Samsung. Make sure to save
then reboot for it to work.

From home screen. Menu, settings, applications, manage, tab for all, find Gmail and clear data. You often have to
do this when restoring a nandroid as well.

Phone going in to recovery when trying to charge with power off? (Post 287-288)

No worries, everyone has this issue. At best guess, i'd think it to be a recovery issue, since I don't recall
having that issue previous to CWM 3.xx recoveries. I've been waiting for a fix so I can re-calibrate my battery
too. It's not bad enough that I'd downgrade to CM6 to do so, but I like to do it every couple of weeks.

This is a known bug on the phone/recovery, it isnt rom related. It has been happening since root was had on the
mt4g. Just plug in b4 you power off and it will work fine.

Use GPS Status to flush A-GPS data then reboot immediately.

Blurry MMS pictures? (Post 616)

Because the default setting doesn't have a User-Agent selected. MMS messages received are blurry as a result. I
just set mine to Default Android.

--messages, settings, custom user agent, click CUSTOM again, it will prepopulate mms2.0. Hit ok.

---------

Market Problems? (Post 778)

Clear data under applications settings. Then reboot and try again. If that doesn't work try a factory reset.

or Post (1639)

Because that would clear your google account. Instead of clearing data, clear cache, uninstall updates to the
market app and reboot. When you reopen market all of your downloaded apps (and hopefully your backed up ones too!)
should show in market.

WiFi Calling and MMS Problems (Post 4956)

Fixed my issues with Wifi-Calling MMS.

I talked to TMobile and they gave me the correct info for the APN settings.
I deleted both of the APNs listed under wireless settings and created a new one.
Just in case any of you are having issues with SMS or MMS using Wifi-Calling.. give this a shot.

Create a new APN.

Name: T-Mobile
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: 216.155.165.050
Port: 8080
Username: leave blank
Password: leave blank
Server: leave blank
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.050
MMS Port: 8080
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
Authentication Type: leave blank
APN: default, supl, mms (Very important to not have a space in there.. just the ,)

hit the menu button and hit save. then use that apn. You should now have working MMS and SMS.

question. What is the advantage of flashing the nightlies? I dont like flashing and restoring daily. I'll rather just use one nightly until the RC is out. So I'm curious to know what improvements the nightlies come with.

Thanks so much for this! I missed the GPS trick too! I was wondering if it was just me, or if the GPS really was locking slower. Great work!

And viper, the only advantage I've found to flashing nightlies, is that some issues will get fixed with the later versions. You also don't have to do a full wipe with every flash. You can just flash right overtop of your current CM7 nightly and it shouldn't affect your setup at all. Of course you should always do a nandroid beforehand. But with the later nightlies I have been missing my screen off animations. But considering the rest of the improvements, I will survive.

I will try to find a working link, I just copied what was in the CM7 Nightly thread. I did test it when I made the FAQ and it was working.

If I can't find it, I will remove it from the FAQ

EDIT: I FIXED THE LINK, SHOULD BE OK NOW. For some reason, link did not copy correctly when I pasted it. It will go right to the Launcher download.
