Installed TouchXplorer but when I ran it on the phone I got a message saying "..has been revoked by Microsoft. Please uninstall" Do I just need to try a different reg editor?

I found the issue. You have to make sure your Hosts file is not set to read-only. It's in your windows/system32/drivers directory. Just search using the search bar in Windows Explorer.

i did that but now im getting the communication error

Howdy been trying this for a little while now and just can't get it to work.

First problem is that I can't install the Windows Phone Developer Tools, keep getting:

"Setup could not install the following component:

Microsoft Application Error Reporting"

Installing chevronwp7.cer works fine, chevronwp7.reg works fine but can't connect to phone when running chevronwp7.exe

Any ideas? Do I need the dev tools for the rest to work? or just to do extra stuff. I'll want it eventually but unlocking the phone would be an awesome 1st step.

Can anyone help me what exactly I have do to in the registry:

for example here:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DeviceReg]
"PortalUrlProd"=""
"PortalUrlInt"=""
When I open DeviceReg I see
Value Name:
[Default]

Do I have to write "PortalUrlProd"="" into the field [Value Data] with or without "" ""?
What happens with the Value Type: there I have [String]
Where do I write the second part ("PortalUrlInt"="")
New key? New value?

I know this may sound redundant -- but how do I make a value out of those strings of numbers? I've no experience here whatsoever, and want desperately to enter the field. Namely, how does 2684395520 make 0xA000A000, and how can I make that, say, a C666C666 (obviously using the volume edit for a reference, I know that's 15)? Is there a hex value generator, or some such, that can translate the values, or is there a method to doing this myself? Of course, I could be going about it the wrong way, in which case, I apologize for seeming foolish.

Also, I've changed the Lock option on my Samsung Focus to "0" (the 'Never Time-out' modification), and I still don't have the 'Never' option. Am I perhaps doing something wrong? The app is undoubtedly modifying registry values, I've already played around with a few UI elements.

Make sure your phone isn't locked and your homescreen (live tiles) are visible.
