I have heard that Verizon has implemented a monitoring service to catch people using Tethering on the leaked Froyo ROM for the Samsung Fascinate, is there any word as to whether or not the Thunderbolt will have this as well?

I have heard nothing of that
But I assure you that it will be taken out if it is in there
I use easytether pro so I'm not worried, it uses adb so it looms like its just sendING to the computer

I have a fascinate and the devs, JT and Kaos, have confirmed there is a tether monitoring app built into it, I think the wifi driver. If you remove it at this time you will lose all wifi ability. Should not be a problem with thunderbolt as its close to the evo and dinc.

I find it humurous that Verizon feels its ok to charge or this feature. If it wernt for stockholders they wouldn't even try to prevent hacking from happening

Rumor is that they will make this feature free :P maybe they got smart and realized all you hafta do is root and download a modified version and its free
Or maybe the delay is they modified the wifi driver to monitor this and its causing issues with the phone
