sieempi, sorry for ranting about my darn phone not unlocking before. it turns out i was checking it with old sim card type which has larger chip so desire couldn't recognize it (but it works in my other nokia - because of it i never thought sim card could be the issue). and as sim slot in desire is covered i couldn't see the difference and spot the issue.

it turns out your tool worked like a charm! thx, i'll be paypalling you some mead as soon as i can.

maybe this'll help few others who can't get the unlock. my symptom with old card was "no sim card" message, i.e. it wasn't recognized at all, like i haven't put anything in the phone.

I had the same problem buy in my case a probe another solution:
The htc rest locked in hboot and the htc_desire_Unlock_v0.9.5.exe not found the device. I have to reinstall the adb driver to recognize another one the device.
Resume: Connect htc >> instal adb driver >> execute htc_desire_Unlock_v0.9.5.exe who set the phone in hboot >> install again the htc phone with adb driver >> execute another one htc_desire_Unlock_v0.9.5.exe and voilá its run and unlock the phone

I downloaded the 0.94 file, followed various tips on the blog on how to get past the error 13a error, and got a message that says its been done.

Is there anywhere to check it has actually worked before I sell to a friend and look foolish?

Phone isn't rooted.
