[Q] Revert to old market?

I am trying to revert to the old Market to get Fast Web Install working with Appbrain. I'm running rooted 1.1 using the r1 ROM. Before that was running 1.0.1 rooted and I had the original market.

I've tried renaming /system/app/Vending.apk to newVending.apk and copying the old Vending.apk to /system/app and rebooting. Then when I run Market I still get the new Market. If I remove newVending.apk, Market disappears altogether. Installs and uninstalls with Astro always fail.

Ideas?
