[Q] Change DNS with Edge network

as simple as it sounds...there is no option to accomplish this in gui interface of froyo...It is only for wifi not for 3g/edge networks..the DNS servers provided by my Operator are SOBs ..i m always stuck with GOOGLE PUBLIC DNS ...HElp me out here ..how do i use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as my DNS servers while on edge network on my o1 ...M really pissed with my operator..will give them an ear full sometym soon...HELp!! m stuck with those sodding servers

I think you can change the build.prop file in system folder. That's what i made in other android device.

See here. You can't set both primary and secondary DNS servers. If you do, you loose MMS. You can however set the primary DNS lookup to something else, leaving the secondary in place and still retain MMS functionality. Also, if you have Verizon, you don't have EDGE. You have EV-DO for 3G and it will fall back to 1X.

Even still, if you are using Continuum, which I'm assuming you are since you're posting in the Continuum forum, you can't be on EDGE as it is not CDMA, and this device only supports EVDO/1X

WTF ??? Some moderator moved this thread from LG optimus One TO samsung COntinuum...ANyways is there a way to automatically switch dns everytime i dial the Edge n/w

That would explain it then. I would look at editing /system/etc/ip-up if the file exists on your phone. On the Continuum and Fascinate, this is the script that is called when the phone goes to establish an internet connection to setup the DNS servers and other connection related stuff.
