Default T-mobile oem silicone case scratches phone! Do not use.

Guys. I learned the hard way. I bought the black silicon (gel) case from t-mobile the first day I got the phone, and i have been using it ever since. It isn't listed on the t-mobile website anymore, so who knows if this issue is widespread and they pulled it. But it basically scratched up the bottom front of the phone where it covers up the black area to the very left and right of the trackpad button. I'm assuming it's probably not the case itself that caused this; rather, dirt or something else slightly abbrasive got in there and slowly rubbed up the nice mirror finish on the phone. It looks like I'll have to keep this case now because it covers up the area that it scratched up. My wife has the pink gel skin. It's a slightly more rigid material, and her phone does not show the same scratching on the bottom edges. So word to the wise, avoid these silicone skins unless you are able to keep any sort of pocket lint or dust out of there. I can't get the scratches out no matter what. Any advice? Has anyone else noticed this issue? It totally sucks, but there's no way I'm going to exchange my phone and possibly get a crappy screen

Pics:
1st one is just showing you what case I'm referring to. The rest show what's under the trackpad area.

I had that case for a while b4 getting tpu case. It never scratched my phone like urs did. Only thing I hate about it is how much it attracts lint

Yup, the exact same thing happened on my phone. Not quite as bad as yours, but the same case and same issue. Sucks... My new tpu case is the bomb though!

I'm still pretty upset with all of this. I can't imagine how this lower part of the front of the phone got scratched up so badly. Isn't this part glass like the screen? I guess it's little pieces of sand/dust that rubbed up against the phone and the silicone. But my wife's silicone case hasn't done this to her phone (at least not yet). Since I think that the glossy finish on that area must be plastic, do you all think some plastic polish (e.g. clear x) might get rid of the scratching? I don't want to get a new case now as the silicone case that ruined my phone also hides the larger area at the bottom that it ruined

Yeah, I don't think it would make it worse. Give it a shot!

Ive had mine on since release date, and i dont have one single scratch.
but then again i tend to remove it once every 1-2 weeks and remove all dust particles that get trapped in there.

only problem i have with mine is its getting too loose...

Good to know. The MT4G is a lot snugger in any case than my older mt3g. The advice about cleaning it occasionally is a good tip.

DONATE TO ME
It;s the dust and other crap that gets in between your case and phone that scratches the phone becuase its so snug tight. I have a TPU case but I take it out once every couple days to get the dust and other stuff in there that can scratch it up.

So IMO cases that are really tight fit on the phone needs to be taken out once in a while to be cleaned. Been using a case ever since I got mine 3 months ago and it's been scratch free.

Sorry to hear that it scratched ur phone tho =/
