I've got Sync up and running. I also see the "Updating HTC Library" message when I start the app. It runs for quite some time before the app fully starts. I've never seen the app shut down.
Here's my setup in case it helps with the debugging:
1. Windows 7 Pro x64
2. Office 2010 x86 (Removed my x64 as Sync does not support it)
3. HTC Sync v3.0.5511
4. Nod32 Antivirus (List just to note AV software maybe something to disable for testing)
