Flaming: Defined.
Recently I had a skirmish with some people who had thought I certain comment I made was "flaming".They proceeded to quote me and complain and whine and moan about my comment with some not so nice words.
So lets just define flaming for all of those who do not understand.
"Also the considerable lack of details on the first page is annoying"
NOT FLAMING, but criticism on the fact the first page has a lack of details.
"way to be a douche bag, cant you read? the first post says no flaming!!!"
FLAMING, insults about falsely perceived insults, the irony is palpable.
"Mainly about the kernel, which wasnt even linked. Not really a big deal to find the kernel thread, just thought it was a surprising lack of effort"
NOT FLAMING, again criticism on the fact the first page has a lack of details and pointing out the lack of effort going into the first page.
"If you think that is flaming you have been to 0% of the internet you incompetent mess"
FLAMING, insult about the lack of mental understanding that goes along with the english language
1st,3rd, and 4th quotes are direct quotes from me from the thread.
The lack of logic in the world is surprising now adays.
Lastly, ill leave you with a quote I posted in said thread to try and make people understand that I wasnt flaming to begin with.
"Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfils the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things."
-Winston Churchill
This thread will probably get deleted and I'll be banned. I just want people to know the difference.
RECAP: So when confronted with a post you might think is flaming you have a couple of options: A) Comprehend what is said and note it, B) Ignore it, C) Inform Moderators and let them handle it, D) Whine and complain and insult the person for saying something, regardless of your capacity to interpret what was said
Bonus points if you can guess what option everyone took with regards to my post.
