Just use IM+ from the Market, it works perfect for the chat
HTC Universal G3 + WM6.5 CE OS 5.2.21159 (Build 21159.5.0.0)

That app won't let me sign into my skype account I keep getting login details invalid, despite logging into Skype on my pc fine with the same details.

I don't understand the use of skype on a HD2. Because there is no front cam.
