I went to best buy with the intent of buying either a nook color or a huawei s7. The nook has a fabulous screen, nice processor and sleek design. The s7 has more features (gps, phone, sms, bt, etc) but I could not get over the device's overall design and screen. The resistive screen takes too much effort and overall the s7 looks like a child's toy. I opted for the nook color.

I also took into consideration that the nook has cm7 and will probably have honeycomb working better in the future. The s7's source code may not be released.

Although for the price, the s7 has a ton of features if you dont mind what the thing looks like.

Both were being sold for 249 usd.

@ 00mredOO, why did you decide to go back for the s7 after getting the acer? I currently have a rooted s7 running 2.2.2 and am trying to decide between an acer and a zoom as an upgrade. I want to move up to a 10" display and the early reviews on the s7 slim suck. Market is not working and looks as if it will need a software update. Huawei has a lously track record of customer support IMO from my experience so I am not inclined to go with the slim. Your thoughts?

so far I am having major issues with a few things on the a500...

the screen keeps powering itself on..literally every five minutes it is waking...not sure why.

the sd card is not accessible when the a500 is connected via usb...it's kind of silly

and along with that...haven't gotten one single sd card to mount at all...it doesn't even see them. rumors in the forum say it only works with 16gb or 32gb

there is a visible grid pattern on the screen when in bright or outdoor areas

most websites lag ...touch lag etc... screen goes white/blank
all in all I think honeycomb is just still too buggy for me.

I have been playing with the s7 slim that I picked up a few hours ago...sd card loaded fine ... this new processor is super snappy .. display is week in comparison to the a500...but this thing just seems to work better

I plan on keeping it for a bit longer and testing them...I bought a nook color, the s7 and the a500....whichever one I like I will keep.

I will try and update as I test them.

I am really bummed...the usb host function and the display on the a500 are what really drew me to it in the store...but it isn't worth it... not at the cost of all of the quirks

Default For me it was a question of price

A German phone company "sells" the newest S7 for 1 Euro (=1,45 US-Dollars), combined with a great mobile 6-month-mobile-flat for 25 Euros a month. The flat is 5 GB HSPA/month and if you need more you won't pay anything for the GPRS-Internetflat. The S7 is unlocked. So I have the device for 150 Euros including unlimited access to the net for half a year.
If you live in Germany I can give you the contact to the phone company [and get another 20 Euros for the recommendation] Maybe this offer is also interesting for S7-friends abroad, even if they cannot/should not use the german national flat.
For more infos you may contact me by PM or over slowfax at hotmail dot com.
