That doesn't work. Im having the same problem he described. Ive tried making the folders "disable-lagfix" as well as "disable_lagfix" within the voodoo folder and I have tried to disable through the red recovery menu.

Everytime the robot voice says a couple things like its going to work, then it quickly stops after about 20 seconds into the process then the phone boots up with lag fix enabled still.

Awesome. I'll flash Cogn 4.0 on top of 3.02.

What does restore system data do that might cause issues?

Should I follow these step all over again? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884364

I honestly believe I have read but I have not understood or would not have posted question. Specifically I am unclear how you figure out what kind of kernel a paricular kernel is or what kind of modem a particular modem is. I am gleaning that your answer is that I cannot just install JK4 because it does not match and need to install a matching kernel first? It seems like firebird and jk4 match from what people said. If that's true and if matching matters, which one do you install first? Thanks for taking time to respond even though you didn't seem thrilled by my question

What does this mean exactly? Just curious.
Current: Samsung Galaxy S III

If you have a Captivate, I have a ROM for you: MaxQ and Sparko ROM

There is a modems thread stickied. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835272) It shows about 25% the modems available to use, but does break it down to captivate and i9000 modems. Kernels are mostly i9000, but if in doubt, go to the kernel thread and read the opening post, they usually specify what source they are using.

Just do a odin master clear and fresh install and that'll solve that

It's a programming term, to steal or copy the code.

It's not the AT&T I-897 Captivate though, it's the Rogers (Canadian) I-896, because their official 2.2 was released first. There are minor hardware differences, apparently including a lack of Audience chip.

olo567,

Are you sure? Looks to me as though dg got an early peek at the Samsung upgrade for ATT I-897. Settings > About Phone > Baseband lists "I897UCKB1", which reads like a Captivate baseband to me.
