Hi, I don't own a Defy so asking a straight question for my friend who owns a Defy and wanna upgrade to Gingerbread from Froyo, if he upgrades then he won't have a working Camera right? So I can say that upgrading a Defy to GB isn't possible, am I right?
TIA.

If he has Bayer camera he can upgrade without problems. If he has SOC camera he can use gingerbread nandroid + greenbreadmod.

Motorola Defy: Dualboot MS2Ginger 5.0 + Quarx-CM10.1

Thanks for your quick response. But how to check his Camera module? With Zdevice or else?
And kindly link me to that mod+nandroid in case he has SOC.
TIA.
PS- Someone here said camera won't work with GB

Update: Motorola's web site says that there is an update available for my Defy+, to 2.3.5. Is there any reason not to take this update (or download the SBF and flash it)?

You will lost root and there is no downgrade after this update.

Use only nandroid + fixed-sbf

Here are 2 sbf for 2.3.5 (DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-125). Which one is for CEE and which for GB?

Are you saying that 2.3.5 can't be rooted? I know some of the 2.3.6 builds currently can't (the ones with version 7 in their CGxx files) but since version 6 2.3.6 builds appear to be rootable, I'd have thought that 2.3.5 would be too. I'm happy to re-root it if the update unroots it.

I don't mind about the lack of a downgrade, given that it's an official update.

Thanks, but it's the 4.5.1-134_DFP-82 build of 2.3.4 that I'm seeking an SBF for. I know that there are 2.3.5 SBFs available online.

My suspicion is that the 4.5.1-134_DFP-82 build isn't available anywhere online because it's only ever come out on a phone, not as an update. But that may be based on a misunderstanding of where SBFs come from.
