Smile HDMI-Out - Hands On

So, I just plugged the Xoom into the little micro-HDMI cable (picked one up from New Egg for my Evo) and heres what I found:

Mirror mode seems to absolutely work. It didnt at first, but unplugging it and plugging it back in while the Xoom was on did the trick.

Everything that I did on the Xoom, showed up on my TV and played through the TV's speakers. Switched between homescreens, messed with email, played angry birds, pulled up Google maps, browsed the youtube app/videos, played music (that came pre-loaded) and browsed the pictures in my gallery. I certainly saw enough to believe that "Mirror Mode" means exactly that... and it works out of the box. Audio and all.

Now, there might be a couple of hiccups if trying to play drm-ed content, but I didnt have any to try.

This is what I was looking for. Relieved that I won't have to get the dock as some others said.

I was pretty surprised. I thought it had about a 10-15% chance of working.

Now I just need to get a short-range wireless HDMI transmitter to keep on the coffee table and I'll be one happy camper... that and re-program my remote for quick access.

I'd like to know which transmitter you go with. They can easily cost a couple hundred.

Great news! Just ordered a Micro-D cable, never bothered to get one for my EVO. It will be awesome to be able to mirror the entire UI and contents to any HDTV.

Used the hdmi today but its super unstable. Crashed twice trying to play youtube videos. Crashwd once just plugging it in. It seems to lose tthe hdmi handshake sometimes. I was able to play about 5 youtube videos in a row and then went to click one and it had to handshake again and then crashed
