Default Xoom battery life & other thoughts 24 hours later

Good heavens the battery is killer on this thing. I've been using it off-and-on for 24 hours (minus a few hours for sleep), and I still have about a quarter charge left.

I mean, I don't do really heavy-duty stuff with it... mostly Google Talk, Chrome, and Pulse, but for me, that's just the way I work.

Other thoughts, I like the keyboard, but I wish there was a small layer of number keys at the top, similar to HP's TouchPad.

Wifi performance has been great so far. No problems there.

Also, I read some accounts about text seeming blurry or something, but I honestly have no idea what those folks are talking about. Text is crystal clear.

When browsing, a lot of the sites I use revert to the mobile versions. This is maddening, especially when those sites don't create a clear way to get to the desktop version.

Type "about:debug" in your browser, then go to the options and you'll see a debug menu where you can change the User Agent to desktop. This will fix the mobile website problem.

I tried this and no menu pops up. Your are supposed to type about:debug in the URL field correct? This has been driving me crazy as well

Nothing pops up. You type about:debug and then go to the regular settings tab and you have new options. took me a little while to figure out as well.

It drove me nuts too. Example on Facebook whenever you clicked HOME it reverted to a mobile version and said something on the bottom about downloading it for your Aria.

I downloaded HD Dolphin Browser and set it to DESKTOP in the settings and have been happy with it.

I'll try the DEBUG thing mentioned above though... I do like the stock browser better overall in performance.

So HD Dolphin works on the XOOM?

That's great to know. I have always hated Android's stock browsers. They're so slow. Dolphin HD is so much better.

The Battery life is phenomenal i've been using it from 5:30 am and it's now 11:30 am and i still have 85% left . I'm not so sure about the keyboard , Swiftkey demo a keyboard made for the Xoom which looked great , i searched for it in the market but it's not there yet . The browser could be better but i'm not worried about that i know browsers will be coming out for it soon ,overall it's a great Tablet . Just tried FPse emulator and it works full screen on the Xoom only needs some minor adjustment for better picture frame rate is better than on my droid x ,man this thing has potential .

DONATE TO ME
Default Standby test

Well I did my first standby test. After 8 hours on standby with WiFi turned on, I am still at 100%! The notification light was even blinking part of the time.

Yup, it's pretty solid. I used it constantly from the time I walked out of the store to the time I went to sleep last night around midnight and I still had 24% battery life, all on the charge the device had right out of the box.

Downloading apps, web browsing, watching a little video, light gaming, some email, YouTube, spread over 12 hours. Wish I would have checked the batt percentage initially, but that is still pretty solid.
